René Knip (°1963) was born in Hoorn, the Netherlands. He worked and lived in France to gain experience of life… and to learn the French language. He attended a foundation course in law at the University of Utrecht before leaving to England to learn the language and prepare for art academy. In 1985, after an educational trip to Italy, he started to study at the Academy of Visual Arts St. Joost, Breda, the Netherlands, in the autonomous painting/free graphics department. He transferred to the graphic design department in 1987 and graduated with distinction in 1990. From 1992 to 1995 he was employed at Studio Anthon Beeke as Anthon’s assistant designer. In 1995 he started Atelier René Knip (ARK) a one-man company with generally one assistant designer and one intern. www.atelierreneknip.nl
